Rhomco was instructed at feasibility stage to provide Project Management and Cost Consultancy services for the redevelopment of the former Taff Vale shopping precinct in Pontypridd, together with delivering a footbridge linking the development to nearby Ynysangharad Park. The project involved the demolition of the original basement structure, the formation of a new podium slab and the construction of two office buildings comprising circa 120,000 sq/ft offices and a 26,500 sq/ft leisure and library facility with basement parking, plant and store areas. We provided initial feasibility cost advice and project management services and appointed the full multi-disciplinary design team who took the scheme from RIBA Stage 2 through to completion. As part of our role, we advised the client team on the procurement strategy options and agreed to proceed on a two-stage basis, which we managed. In so doing, we ensured that the scheme value and full contract terms were agreed prior to commencement of the works. During the construction phase, we provided Employer’s Agent services to administrate the contract and liaise with the Local Authority, adjoining owners and other stakeholders. The appointment involved the construction of the new building, internal fit-out and external public realm space.
